Walking Together On An Ecospiritual Liberatory Journey
A year ago, we began our Re-Enchantment & Gratitude Day journey with the Decomposers & Detritivores, those indispensable artists of unmaking and regeneration.
Twelve months of astonishments, when we allow a little more of our attention to return to the living world. Twelve invitations to interrupt the machinery of the mundane, when a bit more of our capacity for wonder escapes the insidious apparatus of distraction and extraction.
Last month, the lichens invited us into the wondrous possibilities of symbiosis, becoming something together that wasn’t possible separately. Now the Decomposers beckon us into the wisdom of decay, returning what has fallen and finished to the wider commons of Life.
What have we composted since this time last year?
What unexpected life has emerged from the fertile decay?
And what is wanting a breaking down, so that the next season of our lives may flourish?
This month’s guide, The Sacred Art of Unmaking, offers poetry, ecological encounters, gratitude blessings, and invitations into the marvelous, messy work of our Decomposer Kin.
As always, we’re a dispersed web of folks honoring our more-than-human kin in our own landscapes, at our own pace.
I’d love to hear how you’re honoring the Decomposers in your corner of the world.
Wishing you a wormy, ‘shroomy, sacred slug slime week!

P.S. and if you’re the type of person who likes silliness with a side of naturalist education and groovy horns, enjoy this tune “Decomposition” from Banana Slug String Band 🐌
RE-ENCHANTMENT & GRATITUDE DAYS
Re-Enchantment & Gratitude Days are anchored to the first Saturday every month, but can be celebrated any time. They offer invitations for blessings, practices, poetry, and inspiration honoring a being or aspect of nature. Next month, we tune into the Wisdom and Treasures of Darkness.
