What vows are you putting in your sacred basket today?

What vows are you putting in your sacred basket today?

The vows that nudge us beyond Empire and the incarcerations of imagination imposed by settler colonial structures. For It’s killing us, it’s killing the world. It’s killing the planet.

I learned from brontë velez (@littlenows) today that the the word ‘vote’ has etymological roots tracing back to Latin votum “a vow, wish, promise to a god, solemn pledge, dedication, wish, desire, longing, prayer”.

So Today I cast vows, foraged from canyons older than election cycles and nation-states, as unfathomable enactments of delicious dreaming, gathering them in my sacred basket:

🧺I vow to tend sacred seeds sprouting through the cracks of the imperial road.

🧺I vow to Transmute the nectar of cunning catastrophe into the honey of our next deepest path.

🧺I vow to feed beauty and the gratuitous re-enchantment of the world.

🧺I vow a deep time commitment to walking our hungry ghosts home.

🧺I vow to divest from all pale premises of the death machine.

🧺I vow, as gabes torres (@gabestorres) says, to love in ways that devastatingly disrupt organized state violence.

🧺I vow to embrace our perpetual dissolutions and promiscuous resurrections.

🧺I vow to practice building small fires of warming presence to thaw frozen trauma time loops in which we are all stuck.

🧺I vow to lend a bright and real caress to the voluptuous sacred wounds that birthed the colonial nightmare.

🧺I vow to contribute my small gyrations, vibrations, tremors, quivers and wild wobbles to the Great Shaking (Global Intifada).

🧺I vow to never honor any constitution that doesn’t place Water at the heart of it.

🧺I vow to nourish reclamations of holy unscripted dream-frothing.
