Despite the clamorings of an OverCulture committed to frenetic grasping and distraction, with hungry ghost hearts gobbling up the world with insatiable appetite, when we listen into the cycles of nature, when we bathe in the seasonal darkness, and put our ears up to Solstice, what we hear is that ancient archetype:

It’s subnational trumpet cup lichen day and you know what that means:

So you’ve come to the threshold of a season

It said, make of yourself a sky,

This week of longest nights before the solstice threshold—Rich in deep darkness.

Caught a few Geminids in my basket last night. 💫

A murmuration of poetry beasts. My books slowly putting paw prints down on the meandering path, less like a launch, and more like a robust bear padding down to the river, or curious flirty fox observing the scene around the campfire.

There comes a moment, probably many moments—quiet at times, dramatically insistent at others—when life stops letting you pretend you’re still the person you’ve been.
