Wild Nature offers a wide range of programs and services:

Soul-Rooted Wilderness Journeys (2-7 nights on the land; both public and custom-designed)

Soul-Rooted Weekend Retreats (usually 2-3 nights at a retreat center or campground)

1-on-1 Soul-Rooted Mentoring in Nature (each of us has our own private practice working 1-on-1 with people)

Half-Day and Full Day Nature Connection and Creativity Workshops (Earth Poetry, Writing)

Wilderness Vision Fasts (Our first one of 2018 will be in August)

Wild Nature Heart Community Meetups (So far, we have Meetups along the American River in Sacramento and in the forested hills of Oakland)

This is for the women we work with (though much of it applies to all of us). What is instinct? It is the knowing that comes from listening to our animal bodies, and it is our true heritage as human beings. In my work with women there is something I find myself saying again and again. • “You have good instincts.” Each time I say it, it is genuine and born of my amazement that, despite all the cultural messages designed to get us to doubt and numb our inner knowing, good judgment that comes from deep within (which is the best definition I can give for intuition) still somehow gets through. • Not all the time. But often enough that I can say with certainty that there is hope for us. Every time I say these words, “you have good instincts”, I become a witness to a woman taking back a little of her power. One woman’s shoulders get a little straighter. Another seems to breathe a sigh of recognition. • Or, a woman’s eyes get just a little brighter with that spark that’s always been inside her, or she beams a smile as if to say “you see me!” And then I get to feel more vital too and my heart fills with gratitude for this sacred work I do. Like the woman who sings over the bones in a story told by Clarissa Pinkola Estes in Women Who Run with the Wolves, I help women to re-assemble all the parts of themselves by speaking these simple, magic words. • Lately, I’ve been saying these words a lot to my daughter too. She is an amazing eighteen year old young woman now and her good instincts (along with her brilliant curiosity and her fierce courage) really do inspire me. The little girl she used to be (shown in this picture) was fiercely brilliant and courageous too. • Children are innately intuitive. The trick is to hold on to that when we grow up. Clarissa Pinkola Estes says, “There is no greater blessing a mother can give her daughter than a reliable sense of the veracity of her own intuition. Intuition is handed from parent to child in the simplest ways; ‘You have good judgement. What do you think lies hidden behind all this?’ Rather than defining intuition as some unreasoned faulty quirk, it is defined as truly the soul-voice speaking.” -Katie Baptist
